The Reserve Bank of India reported total overnight money market volume of ₹6,89,671.98 crore, on a one-leg basis, in its press release issued on July 29, 2026. The weighted average rate for the overnight segment was 5.28%, with rates ranging from 2.00% to 5.62%.
The figures cover call money, triparty repo, market repo and repo in corporate bonds. The data is based on information from the RBI and the Clearing Corporation of India Limited, according to the release.
Overnight money market details
Triparty repo accounted for the largest part of the overnight segment. Its volume stood at ₹4,79,909.60 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.30%. The rate range for triparty repo was 5.20% to 5.50%.
Market repo volume was ₹1,87,105.88 crore. The weighted average rate was 5.20%, while the reported range was 2.00% to 5.62%.
Call money transactions stood at ₹16,083.05 crore. The weighted average rate was 5.31%, with the rate range between 4.60% and 5.50%.
Repo in corporate bonds recorded volume of ₹6,573.45 crore. The weighted average rate was 5.35%, and the rate range was 5.31% to 5.50%.
Term segment activity
In the term segment, notice money volume was ₹733.40 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.57%, with rates ranging from 4.90% to 5.75%. Notice money refers to uncollateralized transactions of 2 to 14 days tenor.
Term money volume was ₹689.00 crore. The release did not provide a weighted average rate for this category, while the rate range was 5.35% to 5.80%. Term money refers to uncollateralized transactions of 15 days to one year tenor.
Term triparty repo volume was ₹320.00 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.54% and a range of 5.35% to 5.75%. Market repo in the term segment was ₹52.76 crore at 5.45%. There was no transaction reported in repo in corporate bonds under the term segment.
RBI liquidity operations
Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility, the RBI reported an MSF amount of ₹92.00 crore for the auction dated July 28, 2026, with one-day tenor and maturity on July 29, 2026. The current rate was 5.50%.
The Standing Deposit Facility amount for the same one-day tenor was ₹1,32,746.00 crore at 5.00%. Based on these figures, the RBI reported net liquidity from today’s operations at minus ₹1,32,654.00 crore. In the release, a positive number denotes injection and a negative number denotes absorption.
For outstanding operations, the release listed a variable rate repo operation dated July 27, 2026, with a three-day tenor and maturity on July 30, 2026. The amount was ₹12,720.00 crore, with the current or cut-off rate at 5.26%.
The Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹12,979.66 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹25,699.66 crore. After including today’s operations, the overall net liquidity figure was minus ₹1,06,954.34 crore.
Reserve position
The cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI stood at ₹8,00,024.22 crore as on July 28, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 28, 2026, was ₹0.00 crore. Net durable liquidity was reported as a surplus of ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.
