The Reserve Bank of India released its daily money market and liquidity operations data on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The figures were issued as Press Release 2026-2027/768 and were stated in ₹ crore, with rates given in per cent.
According to the release, the total volume in the overnight money market segment was ₹7,04,971.29 crore. The weighted average rate for this combined overnight segment was 5.21 per cent, with a reported rate range of 0.01 per cent to 6.00 per cent.
Overnight money market details
The overnight segment included call money, triparty repo, market repo, and repo in corporate bond transactions. Triparty repo accounted for the largest volume among the listed overnight categories.
- Call money volume was ₹18,826.61 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.26 per cent and a range of 4.60 per cent to 5.45 per cent.
- Triparty repo volume was ₹4,85,865.95 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.22 per cent and a range of 4.95 per cent to 5.51 per cent.
- Market repo volume was ₹1,93,869.28 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.15 per cent and a range of 0.01 per cent to 6.00 per cent.
- Repo in corporate bond volume was ₹6,409.45 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.29 per cent and a range of 5.25 per cent to 5.35 per cent.
Term segment activity
The term segment was much smaller than the overnight segment. Notice money transactions, which the release defines as uncollateralized transactions of 2 to 14 days, stood at ₹139.00 crore. The weighted average rate for notice money was 5.06 per cent, with a range of 4.70 per cent to 5.20 per cent.
Term money transactions, defined in the release as uncollateralized transactions of 15 days to one year, stood at ₹1,881.00 crore. No weighted average rate was listed for this category, while the rate range was 5.35 per cent to 5.80 per cent.
- Term triparty repo volume was ₹1,038.00 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.26 per cent and a range of 5.20 per cent to 5.35 per cent.
- Term market repo volume was ₹827.11 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.43 per cent and a range of 5.40 per cent to 5.45 per cent.
- Repo in corporate bond under the term segment had no reported transaction, with volume shown as ₹0.00 crore.
RBI liquidity operations
The RBI also reported its Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility operations. Under variable rate operations, a repo operation auction dated Monday, July 27, 2026, had a three-day tenor and a maturity date of Thursday, July 30, 2026. The amount was ₹12,720.00 crore at a current or cut-off rate of 5.26 per cent.
For the Marginal Standing Facility, the release listed ₹2,738.00 crore for a one-day tenor from July 27 to July 28, 2026, at 5.50 per cent. The Standing Deposit Facility amount was ₹1,28,685.00 crore for the same one-day period, at 5.00 per cent.
The net liquidity injected from the day’s operations was shown as minus ₹1,13,227.00 crore. The release states that net liquidity is calculated as repo plus MSF plus SLF minus reverse repo minus SDF, with positive figures indicating injection and negative figures indicating absorption.
Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹12,979.66 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was also ₹12,979.66 crore. Including the day’s operations, net liquidity injected stood at minus ₹1,00,247.34 crore.
Reserve position and cash balances
The RBI reported cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the central bank at ₹8,10,520.88 crore as on July 27, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 27, 2026, was ₹12,720.00 crore. Net durable liquidity was listed as a surplus of ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.
