Bhai Tera Star Hai Targets 900-1000 Screens on July 30

Bhai Tera Star Hai is preparing for a theatrical release on July 30, a date that will put the Hindi film in cinemas alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Producer-director Vivek B Agarwal has said the timing was chosen after looking at the release calendar, with the team now aiming for a sizeable screen count across India.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Agarwal said there was no elaborate release strategy behind the decision. According to him, the film’s team studied the upcoming weekends and found few practical options after July 30.

“Honestly speaking, there’s no strategy. I did my homework. After the July 30 weekend, I don’t know if I’ll get another opportunity to release my film until the end of February 2027,” he said. He added that the calendar was crowded with major Hindi releases, large solo films, and combinations of Bollywood and pan-India South films.

Why July 30 was chosen

Agarwal said the team had to choose between facing a big Hindi film later or opening in the same week as a Hollywood title. In his view, July 30 offered a better opening because there was no major Hindi release for a short period around that time.

He pointed out that apart from Dhamaal 4 in July, there was no substantial Hindi release until the middle of August. That gave the team a reason to release the film during what he described as a dry period for Hindi films.

“It was either a choice of clashing with a big Hindi film or releasing alongside Spider-Man. Hence, this was the only viable option,” Agarwal said. He added that some viewers may want to watch a Hindi film in theatres when there are limited Hindi options available.

Screen count and distribution

The film will be distributed in India by PVR Inox Pictures. When asked about the release size, Agarwal said the makers are targeting 900 to 1000 screens.

That is a notable target for a film being positioned on the strength of its trailer, humour and cast. The source report notes that the promo has drawn attention for its quirky tone and Raghav Juyal’s performance. The film also arrives at a time when theatrical space is often shaped by big-ticket Hindi releases, South films, and Hollywood titles.

The July 30 release means Bhai Tera Star Hai will have to share audience attention with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Agarwal’s comments suggest the team is aware of that challenge but believes the absence of another major Hindi release gives the film a clearer chance with its target viewers.

Why the makers wanted a theatrical release

Agarwal also spoke about choosing cinemas over a direct-to-OTT route. The film’s tone has been compared in the source report to small-budget, high-concept Hindi films that production houses such as UTV and Phantom backed in the 2000s and early 2010s. Agarwal was associated with Phantom.

He said he agreed that audience habits have changed, but added that a good film can still bring people to theatres. According to him, both he and Raghav Juyal were keen on giving Bhai Tera Star Hai a cinema release.

“At the end of the day, if the film is good, people do come to the theatres,” Agarwal said. He added that the campaign has involved Juyal meeting people and asking them to watch the film on the big screen. The actor has been doing city tours as part of the promotions.

Agarwal said the decision will finally depend on whether viewers respond to the material. He mentioned the trailer, songs, humour and ensemble cast as elements that the team hopes will help the film. “People are liking the trailer and humour quotient,” he said.

Positioning against OTT content

Agarwal also gave his view on why a light Hindi film may find an audience in theatres. He said many viewers have been watching dark and serious content at home, especially on streaming platforms.

He said, “Aisa nahin hai ki OTT pe bhasad comedy ban rahi hai. Majorly, sirf dark, serious aur toxic content hi ban raha hai.” He added that if a film offers something fresh, audiences may be willing to give it a chance in cinemas.

For now, the film’s release plan is clear: Bhai Tera Star Hai opens on July 30, with PVR Inox Pictures handling its India distribution and the makers looking at 900 to 1000 screens. Its performance will depend on how much space it can create for itself during a week led by a major Hollywood release.
