RBI Money Market Data Shows Overnight Volume at ₹6.28 Lakh Crore

The Reserve Bank of India released its latest money market and liquidity operations data on August 20, 2026. The release gave market volumes in ₹ crore and rates in per cent, based on Reserve Bank of India and Clearing Corporation of India Limited data.

The overnight money market segment recorded a total one-leg volume of ₹6,28,239.69 crore. The weighted average rate for the overall overnight segment was 4.99%, while the reported rate range was 1.10% to 5.45%.

Overnight money market activity

Within the overnight segment, triparty repo accounted for the largest share of activity. It reported volume of ₹4,44,150.45 crore at a weighted average rate of 4.96%. The rate range for this segment was 4.80% to 5.15%.

Market repo volume stood at ₹1,65,164.43 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.03%. The reported rate range was wider, from 1.10% to 5.25%.

Call money volume was ₹11,991.91 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.15%, with trades reported in the range of 4.60% to 5.20%. Repo in corporate bond recorded volume of ₹6,932.90 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.28%, with a range of 5.20% to 5.45%.

Term segment data

The term segment showed smaller volumes compared with the overnight market. Notice money, which the release defined as uncollateralized transactions of 2 to 14 days tenor, recorded volume of ₹297.00 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.11%, and the rate range was 4.85% to 5.20%.

Term money, covering uncollateralized transactions of 15 days to one year tenor, had volume of ₹364.00 crore. The release did not provide a weighted average rate for this item, while the rate range was 5.60% to 6.15%.

In the term segment, triparty repo volume was ₹920.00 crore at a weighted average rate of 4.98%. Market repo volume was ₹89.85 crore at 5.35%, and repo in corporate bond volume was ₹55.00 crore at 5.40%.

RBI liquidity operations

Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility section, the release listed operations for August 19, 2026, maturing on August 20, 2026.

The variable rate reverse repo operation was ₹1,25,825.00 crore for one day at a current or cut-off rate of 5.24%. The Marginal Standing Facility amount was ₹71.00 crore for one day at 5.50%. The Standing Deposit Facility amount was ₹1,56,077.00 crore for one day at 5.00%.

Net liquidity injected from today’s operations was shown at minus ₹2,81,831.00 crore. The release stated that net liquidity is calculated as Repo plus MSF plus SLF minus Reverse Repo minus SDF.

Outstanding operations and reserve position

For outstanding operations, the RBI listed a seven-day variable rate reverse repo operation dated August 17, 2026, maturing on August 24, 2026. The amount was ₹98,945.00 crore at 5.24%.

Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹9,916.06 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was shown at minus ₹89,028.94 crore. Including today’s operations and outstanding operations, the net liquidity injected figure was minus ₹3,70,859.94 crore.

The reserve position section showed scheduled commercial banks’ cash balances with the RBI at ₹8,18,786.99 crore as on August 19, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending August 31, 2026, was ₹8,17,404.00 crore.

The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on August 19, 2026, was reported at ₹0.00 crore. Net durable liquidity as on July 31, 2026, was shown as a surplus of ₹6,79,145.00 crore.
