RBI money market data shows ₹6.71 lakh crore overnight volume

The Reserve Bank of India’s money market data for July 30, 2026 showed overnight segment volume of ₹6,71,325.40 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.14 per cent. The reported rate range for the full overnight segment was 0.01 per cent to 5.55 per cent.

The figures were released by the RBI in Press Release 2026-2027/778. The release listed activity in call money, triparty repo, market repo and repo in corporate bonds, along with details of liquidity operations conducted through RBI facilities.

Overnight money market activity

Triparty repo accounted for the largest part of overnight market activity in the release. Its one-leg volume was ₹4,69,381.60 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.14 per cent and a range of 4.50 per cent to 5.35 per cent.

Market repo volume stood at ₹1,78,305.75 crore. The weighted average rate for this segment was 5.09 per cent, while the rate range was 0.01 per cent to 5.50 per cent.

Call money transactions had a volume of ₹16,884.60 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.30 per cent. The call money rate range was 4.60 per cent to 5.40 per cent.

Repo in corporate bonds reported volume of ₹6,753.45 crore. The weighted average rate was 5.33 per cent, and the rate range was 5.28 per cent to 5.55 per cent.

Term segment figures

In the term segment, triparty repo volume was ₹13,276.00 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.25 per cent and a range of 5.10 per cent to 5.75 per cent.

Term money volume was ₹944.60 crore. The RBI release did not provide a weighted average rate for this item, and listed its rate range at 5.45 per cent to 5.80 per cent.

Market repo in the term segment stood at ₹757.07 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.53 per cent. The rate range was 5.40 per cent to 5.55 per cent.

Notice money, which the RBI note described as uncollateralized transactions of 2 to 14 days tenor, had volume of ₹170.60 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.05 per cent, with a range of 4.85 per cent to 5.20 per cent. Repo in corporate bonds in the term segment was ₹53.00 crore at 5.50 per cent.

RBI liquidity operations

Under liquidity operations, the RBI reported a one-day variable rate repo operation auctioned on July 29, 2026 and maturing on July 30, 2026. The amount was ₹50,020.00 crore and the current or cut-off rate was 5.26 per cent.

The Marginal Standing Facility amount for the same one-day tenor was ₹95.00 crore at 5.50 per cent. Standing Deposit Facility was ₹1,92,111.00 crore at 5.00 per cent.

Based on these operations, the RBI reported net liquidity from the day’s operations at minus ₹1,41,996.00 crore. In the release, a negative figure represents absorption.

For outstanding operations, the RBI listed a variable rate repo operation auctioned on July 27, 2026 for a three-day tenor, maturing on July 30, 2026. The amount was ₹12,720.00 crore at 5.26 per cent.

Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹12,979.66 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹25,699.66 crore. Including the day’s operations, the total net liquidity figure was minus ₹1,16,296.34 crore.

Reserve position and liquidity indicators

The release also gave reserve position data for scheduled commercial banks and the government cash balance used for auction purposes.

  • Cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI stood at ₹7,91,049.38 crore as on July 29, 2026.
  • The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026 was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.
  • The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 29, 2026 was ₹50,020.00 crore.
  • Net durable liquidity was reported as a surplus of ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.
