RBI Reports Net Liquidity Absorption of ₹93,211 Crore

The Reserve Bank of India reported net liquidity absorption of ₹93,211.34 crore in its press release published on Monday, July 27, 2026. The figure includes both the day’s operations and outstanding operations, using the RBI’s stated convention that liquidity injection is shown as positive and absorption is shown as negative.

The release, issued as Press Release 2026-2027/758, gives money market and RBI liquidity operation data in ₹ crore, with rates shown in per cent. It also includes reserve position figures for scheduled commercial banks and a net durable liquidity estimate.

Money market volumes shown at zero

In the money markets section, the RBI reported 0.00 volume for the overnight segment. This included call money, triparty repo, market repo, and repo in corporate bond. Since there were no transactions recorded in these rows, the weighted average rate and rate range columns were marked as not applicable.

The term segment also showed 0.00 volume across notice money, term money, triparty repo, market repo, and repo in corporate bond. The RBI’s notes say notice money refers to uncollateralised transactions of 2 to 14 days, while term money refers to uncollateralised transactions of 15 days to one year.

Today’s RBI operations

Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility section, the release listed MSF and SDF transactions dated Saturday, July 25, 2026.

  • MSF for a 1-day tenor maturing on Sunday, July 26, 2026, stood at ₹60.00 crore at 5.50 per cent.
  • MSF for a 2-day tenor maturing on Monday, July 27, 2026, was ₹0.00 crore at 5.50 per cent.
  • SDF for a 1-day tenor maturing on Sunday, July 26, 2026, stood at ₹1,74,673.00 crore at 5.00 per cent.
  • SDF for a 2-day tenor maturing on Monday, July 27, 2026, stood at ₹120.00 crore at 5.00 per cent.

Based on these entries, net liquidity from the day’s operations was shown at minus ₹1,74,733.00 crore.

Outstanding operations

For outstanding operations, the RBI listed a variable rate repo operation dated Monday, July 20, 2026. It had a 7-day tenor, matured on Monday, July 27, 2026, and carried an amount of ₹72,051.00 crore at a cut-off rate of 5.26 per cent.

The outstanding MSF entries dated Friday, July 24, 2026, for 2-day and 3-day tenors were both shown at ₹0.00 crore at 5.50 per cent. For SDF, the 2-day tenor entry maturing on Sunday, July 26, 2026, was ₹0.00 crore, while the 3-day tenor entry maturing on Monday, July 27, 2026, was ₹3,509.00 crore. Both SDF entries carried a rate of 5.00 per cent.

The release also showed ₹12,979.66 crore availed from the RBI under the Standing Liquidity Facility. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹81,521.66 crore.

Reserve position and durable liquidity

The cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI stood at ₹8,10,466.43 crore as on July 25, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.

The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction was reported at ₹0.00 crore as on July 24, 2026. The RBI also reported net durable liquidity surplus of ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.
