The Reserve Bank of India released its money market and liquidity data showing a total overnight segment volume of ₹6,23,966.50 crore. The weighted average rate for the overnight segment was 4.90 per cent, with rates moving in a range of 3.25 per cent to 6.10 per cent.
The figures were published in RBI Press Release 2026-2027/818. The amounts are in ₹ crore and rates are in per cent. The data is based on information from the Reserve Bank of India and the Clearing Corporation of India Limited.
Overnight money market details
In the overnight segment, triparty repo accounted for the largest reported volume at ₹4,26,328.20 crore. Its weighted average rate was 4.88 per cent, with a rate range of 4.61 per cent to 5.08 per cent.
Market repo volume stood at ₹1,76,556.41 crore. The weighted average rate in this category was 4.91 per cent, while the reported range was 3.25 per cent to 5.15 per cent.
Call money transactions were reported at ₹14,149.24 crore. The weighted average rate was 5.05 per cent, with rates ranging from 4.60 per cent to 5.10 per cent. Repo in corporate bond recorded a volume of ₹6,932.65 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.20 per cent and a range of 5.10 per cent to 6.10 per cent.
Term segment activity
In the term segment, notice money volume was ₹118.70 crore. The weighted average rate was 4.96 per cent, and the rate range was 4.70 per cent to 5.00 per cent. RBI noted that notice money relates to uncollateralized transactions of 2 to 14 days tenor.
Term money volume was ₹681.00 crore. RBI did not report a weighted average rate for this item, while the rate range was 5.30 per cent to 6.85 per cent. Term money relates to uncollateralized transactions of 15 days to one year tenor.
Triparty repo in the term segment stood at ₹7,425.40 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.00 per cent and a range of 4.89 per cent to 5.10 per cent. Market repo volume was ₹564.55 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.39 per cent and a range of 5.35 per cent to 5.40 per cent. Repo in corporate bond showed no transaction in this segment.
RBI liquidity operations
Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility, RBI reported MSF of ₹171.00 crore. The auction date was August 5, 2026, with a one-day tenor and maturity on August 6, 2026. The current rate was 5.50 per cent.
Standing Deposit Facility was reported at ₹3,55,172.00 crore for the same auction date, tenor and maturity date. The current rate was 5.00 per cent. Net liquidity injected from the day’s operations was shown at -₹3,55,001.00 crore, indicating absorption on a net basis as per the RBI calculation.
RBI also reported Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the central bank at ₹10,594.66 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹10,594.66 crore. After including the day’s operations and outstanding operations, the net liquidity injected figure was -₹3,44,406.34 crore.
Reserve position
Cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI stood at ₹7,91,120.02 crore as on August 5, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending August 15, 2026, was ₹8,03,001.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on August 5, 2026, was reported at ₹0.00 crore. Net durable liquidity was shown as a surplus of ₹5,36,080.00 crore as on July 15, 2026.
