The Reserve Bank of India’s latest money market and liquidity operations data showed overnight money market volume of ₹6,59,022.07 crore, measured on a one-leg basis. The weighted average rate for the overnight segment was 5.20 per cent, with deals reported in a range of 3.00 per cent to 5.60 per cent.
The figures were released by the RBI on July 9, 2026, in Press Release 2026-2027/630. Amounts in the release are stated in ₹ crore and rates are stated in per cent.
Overnight money market details
The triparty repo segment accounted for the largest share of overnight activity in the RBI data. Triparty repo volume stood at ₹4,50,275.35 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.20 per cent and a rate range of 5.12 per cent to 5.55 per cent.
Market repo volume was ₹1,79,050.48 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.21 per cent, while the rate range was 3.00 per cent to 5.56 per cent.
Call money transactions were reported at ₹22,781.79 crore. The weighted average call money rate was 5.27 per cent, with rates ranging from 4.60 per cent to 5.60 per cent.
Repo in corporate bond had volume of ₹6,914.45 crore. The weighted average rate in this segment was 5.32 per cent, with a reported range of 5.29 per cent to 5.50 per cent.
Term segment activity
In the term segment, notice money volume was ₹52.47 crore. The weighted average rate was 5.10 per cent, and the rate range was 4.80 per cent to 5.20 per cent. The RBI note describes notice money as uncollateralized transactions with a tenor of 2 to 14 days.
Term money volume was ₹936.50 crore, with a rate range of 5.35 per cent to 6.00 per cent. The release did not list a weighted average rate for this segment. Term money refers to uncollateralized transactions with a tenor from 15 days to one year.
Term triparty repo volume stood at ₹1,110.00 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.18 per cent and a range of 5.15 per cent to 5.20 per cent. Term market repo volume was ₹200.00 crore at 5.50 per cent. There was no repo in corporate bond transaction reported in the term segment.
RBI liquidity operations
Under RBI operations, a one-day variable rate repo operation dated July 8, 2026 and maturing July 9, 2026 was listed for ₹665.00 crore at 5.26 per cent. The Marginal Standing Facility amount for the same one-day tenor was ₹282.00 crore at 5.50 per cent.
The Standing Deposit Facility amount for July 8 to July 9 was ₹99,812.00 crore at 5.00 per cent. Based on the RBI’s formula for net liquidity, today’s operations showed net liquidity injected at minus ₹98,865.00 crore, indicating absorption on a net basis.
The release also listed an outstanding variable rate repo operation dated July 6, 2026, with a three-day tenor maturing July 9, 2026. The amount was ₹14,600.00 crore at 5.26 per cent.
Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹10,083.82 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹24,683.82 crore. Including both today’s and outstanding operations, net liquidity injected was shown at minus ₹74,181.18 crore.
Reserve position figures
Scheduled commercial banks’ cash balances with the RBI were ₹7,74,028.15 crore as on July 8, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 15, 2026 was ₹7,98,115.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 8, 2026 was ₹665.00 crore. Net durable liquidity was reported as a surplus of ₹4,82,130.00 crore as on June 15, 2026.
