Eetha is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 28, during the Raksha Bandhan weekend. The teaser had first been shown in theatres with Maddock Films’ Cocktail 2, which released on June 19. After that theatrical preview, the makers have now made the teaser available online.

What the teaser shows

The teaser runs for 2 minutes and 18 seconds. It begins with a charged crowd calling for a performance by a dancer named Eetha. The opening sets up the world of live folk performance, with the focus on the audience, the stage and the anticipation before the performer appears.

Shraddha Kapoor’s entry in the teaser is designed around the character rather than a routine star reveal. The footage places her in a traditional performance setting, with dance, expressions and stage presence forming the centre of the glimpse. The film appears to draw from the visual language of Tamasha and Lavani, two performance forms strongly associated with Maharashtra.

Kapoor has worked across different genres in Hindi cinema, but Eetha presents her in a very specific cultural and period-inspired setting. The teaser suggests that the role required a shift in body language, costume, performance style and screen manner. The footage does not reveal much of the plot, but it clearly positions Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s artistic journey as the core of the film.

Posters released before the teaser

Before the teaser arrived online, the makers released posters featuring Shraddha Kapoor in traditional attire. One poster shows her in a bright yellow saree with ghungroos, walking through lanterns and a crowd of spectators. The image matches the teaser’s focus on stage performance and the public world around the artist.

The posters and teaser together point to a film that is aiming to recreate the atmosphere of Tamasha theatre on screen. The visuals use crowds, lights, costumes and performance spaces to place the character within that world.

Cast and crew of Eetha

Eetha brings together director Laxman Utekar and producer Dinesh Vijan after Chhaava. Apart from Shraddha Kapoor, the film also features Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in important roles. The music has been composed by Ajay-Atul.

The makers have not revealed detailed story points yet. From the teaser, the film seems to look at both the public career and personal struggles of Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The dramatic moments shown in the footage indicate that the story will move beyond performance sequences and follow the life of the artist behind them.

With its August 28 release date, Eetha is currently lined up for the Raksha Bandhan weekend. More details about the trailer, songs and the remaining cast are expected to be shared by the makers closer to release.
