Amaal Mallik has posted a strongly worded statement on X, formerly Twitter, in which he appeared to target music composer Tanishk Bagchi without directly naming him. In the post, Amaal referred to the person as “Mr Remix & Destroyer of Originals” and made a series of allegations related to song credits, copying, royalties and paid publicity.
The post came after Tanishk Bagchi reportedly claimed that he had not received Rs. 8 lakhs in royalty payments for the title track of Saiyaara. Amaal used that issue to question why Yash Raj Films was being targeted, while also referring to Tanishk’s past claims about T-Series owing him money.
In one part of the post, Amaal wrote that the composer keeps saying T-Series owes him crores, and asked why he was going after Yash Raj Films. He also referred to Bhushan Kumar’s influence in the music industry while making that point.
Amaal Mallik alleges copying and credit issues
Amaal’s post included several serious accusations. He claimed that Tanishk secured Saiyaara by using a song originally created by Faheem Abdullah and Arsalan Nizami. Amaal wrote that if he spoke about how the film was “bagged” and how the song was taken from under the noses of the original creators, the other composer would understand the situation.
He also alleged that the song Saiyaara was copied from Humnawa Mere. In the same post, Amaal claimed that singer Jubin Nautiyal stayed silent because of his professional association with the film.
Amaal went further and accused the composer of copying Pakistani songs, lifting folk melodies and taking ideas from YouTube covers. One of the harshest lines in the post read, “You’re a bloody thief, your originals are also not originals.”
Since these are allegations made in a social media post, they remain claims by Amaal Mallik. As of now, Tanishk Bagchi has not publicly responded to the accusations.
Paid PR claims also raised
Amaal also alleged that paid publicity was being used against him. He wrote that money earned from labels was being spent in the wrong place and asked that old photos from 2017-18 not be used to push articles about him.
The composer connected the matter to his upcoming project Awarapan 2. He claimed that rival groups in the film industry were running a “huge paid PR” campaign to affect the film and its soundtrack. According to him, such campaigns would not decide the fate of the music because audiences would make that decision.
Earlier in the week, Amaal had thanked listeners for the response to his latest song. He said the melody was close to his heart and added that every song needs time to breathe, reach listeners and live with the audience.
Tanishk Bagchi yet to respond
The exchange has drawn attention because both Amaal Mallik and Tanishk Bagchi are known names in Hindi film music. Amaal’s post, however, did not directly tag or name Tanishk while making the allegations.
The post ended with a warning from Amaal, who wrote, “Don’t mess with me, because this is my jungle, and there’s only one rule here. When the lion is hungry, he eats and leaves no crumbs.”
At the time of writing, no public response from Tanishk Bagchi to Amaal Mallik’s remarks has been reported.
