The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), in collaboration with MyGov, has announced the winners of the Urja Shakti Quiz: Powering India’s Sustainable Future. The online quiz was conducted from 14 July to 21 July 2026 and recorded participation from 15,524 people across the country.
The initiative was designed as a public awareness activity on India’s renewable energy sector. According to the announcement, the quiz covered solar energy, wind energy, bioenergy, green hydrogen, small hydro power, energy efficiency, and government initiatives linked to renewable energy.
MyGov is used for citizen engagement with government programmes and campaigns. In this case, the platform helped connect a clean-energy awareness exercise with a wider public audience, allowing citizens to test their understanding of renewable energy and related national goals.
Purpose of the Urja Shakti Quiz
The quiz aimed to help citizens learn more about India’s achievements, policies, and programmes in clean energy. It also connected the subject with broader themes mentioned in the announcement, including energy security, environmental sustainability, nation-building, self-reliance, and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Renewable energy refers to energy generated from sources that are naturally replenished, such as sunlight, wind, biomass, and flowing water. The topics included in the quiz reflected several major clean-energy areas. Solar energy involves using sunlight for power generation, while wind energy uses wind-driven turbines. Bioenergy is linked to energy produced from biological material. Small hydro power uses water flow on a smaller scale, and green hydrogen is associated with cleaner energy pathways. Energy efficiency focuses on using less energy to deliver the same service or output.
By including these subjects, the quiz was not limited to one technology. It introduced participants to different parts of India’s clean-energy transition and highlighted the role of policy awareness in public participation. The response of 15,524 participants was described by the ministry as enthusiastic participation from across the country.
