The Reserve Bank of India’s latest money market release showed overnight market activity of ₹6,82,567.89 crore for July 16, 2026. The weighted average rate for the overnight segment was 5.31 per cent, with deals recorded in a range of 4.00 per cent to 6.80 per cent.
The figures were published in RBI Press Release 2026-2027/689. The data is based on information from the Reserve Bank of India and the Clearing Corporation of India Limited, and amounts are stated in ₹ crore.
Overnight money market activity
Triparty repo formed the largest part of the overnight segment. The volume in triparty repo stood at ₹4,71,326.30 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.32 per cent. The rate range for this segment was 5.20 per cent to 5.85 per cent.
Market repo volume was ₹1,82,271.60 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.28 per cent, with a range of 4.00 per cent to 5.90 per cent. Call money volume was ₹21,228.64 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.35 per cent and a range of 4.60 per cent to 5.70 per cent.
Repo in corporate bond recorded volume of ₹7,741.35 crore in the overnight segment. The weighted average rate was 5.42 per cent, and the range was 5.35 per cent to 6.80 per cent.
Term money market figures
In the term segment, notice money recorded volume of ₹427.65 crore with a weighted average rate of 5.27 per cent. The reported rate range was 4.95 per cent to 5.40 per cent. RBI defines notice money here as uncollateralized transactions with a tenor of 2 to 14 days.
Term money volume was ₹565.00 crore. The RBI release did not report a weighted average rate for this category, while the rate range was 5.50 per cent to 5.75 per cent. Term money refers to uncollateralized transactions of 15 days to one year.
Triparty repo in the term segment stood at ₹3,138.85 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.40 per cent and a range of 5.10 per cent to 5.55 per cent. Market repo volume was ₹88.98 crore at 5.60 per cent. There was no reported transaction in repo in corporate bond in the term segment.
RBI liquidity operations
Under RBI operations, a one-day variable rate repo operation was held on July 16, 2026, maturing on July 17, 2026. The amount was ₹18,425.00 crore and the current or cut-off rate was 5.26 per cent.
The Marginal Standing Facility amount was ₹5,741.00 crore for the same one-day tenor, at 5.50 per cent. The Standing Deposit Facility amount was ₹1,17,446.00 crore at 5.00 per cent.
The RBI release recorded net liquidity injected from the day’s operations at minus ₹93,280.00 crore. It also reported Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI at ₹10,083.82 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹10,083.82 crore.
After including both today’s operations and outstanding operations, net liquidity injected was reported at minus ₹83,196.18 crore. The release states that net liquidity is calculated as repo plus MSF plus SLF minus reverse repo minus SDF.
Reserve position and government cash balance
Cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI stood at ₹8,11,351.70 crore as on July 16, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 16, 2026, was ₹18,425.00 crore. The RBI also reported net durable liquidity at ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.
