The Reserve Bank of India released its latest money market and liquidity operations data in Press Release 2026-2027/736. The figures, based on RBI and Clearing Corporation of India Limited data, are presented in ₹ crore, with rates in per cent.
For the overnight money market segment, the total one-leg volume stood at ₹6,59,097.60 crore. The weighted average rate for the segment was 5.25 per cent, with deals reported in a range of 3.00 per cent to 5.50 per cent.
Triparty repo remained the largest overnight segment
Within the overnight segment, triparty repo accounted for the largest share of activity. Its volume was ₹4,59,373.95 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.22 per cent. The reported rate range for triparty repo was 4.80 per cent to 5.33 per cent.
Market repo volume was ₹1,78,647.36 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.29 per cent and a range of 3.00 per cent to 5.50 per cent. Call money volume was ₹14,662.89 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.38 per cent. Its rate range was 4.60 per cent to 5.45 per cent.
Repo in corporate bond had a smaller overnight volume of ₹6,413.40 crore. The weighted average rate for this category was 5.48 per cent, with a range of 5.37 per cent to 5.50 per cent.
Term segment volumes were smaller
The term money market segment recorded lower volumes than the overnight market. Notice money, which relates to uncollateralised transactions of 2 to 14 days, had a volume of ₹156.15 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.13 per cent, and the rate range was 4.70 per cent to 5.40 per cent.
Term money, covering uncollateralised transactions of 15 days to one year, had a volume of ₹459.25 crore. No weighted average rate was reported for this category, while the rate range was 5.55 per cent to 5.85 per cent.
In the term segment, triparty repo volume was ₹3,005.00 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.18 per cent. Market repo volume was ₹1,557.37 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.39 per cent. Repo in corporate bond showed no transaction in this part of the release.
RBI liquidity operations
Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility, the RBI reported a variable rate repo operation auctioned on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The repo had a two-day tenor, maturing on Friday, July 24, 2026. The amount was ₹7,200.00 crore at a current or cut-off rate of 5.26 per cent.
The Marginal Standing Facility amount for the same auction date was ₹216.00 crore for one day, maturing on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 5.50 per cent. The Standing Deposit Facility amount was ₹1,29,551.00 crore for one day, maturing on July 23, 2026, at 5.00 per cent.
Based on these operations, the net liquidity injected from the day’s operations was reported at minus ₹1,22,135.00 crore, meaning net absorption for the day under the formula used in the release.
Outstanding operations and reserve position
The RBI also listed two outstanding variable rate repo operations. One was auctioned on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, for three days, maturing on Friday, July 24, 2026, for ₹34,291.00 crore at 5.26 per cent. Another was auctioned on Monday, July 20, 2026, for seven days, maturing on Monday, July 27, 2026, for ₹72,051.00 crore at 5.26 per cent.
Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹12,908.82 crore. The net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹1,19,250.82 crore. Including both the day’s and outstanding operations, net liquidity injected was reported at minus ₹2,884.18 crore.
For the reserve position, scheduled commercial banks’ cash balances with the RBI stood at ₹8,19,309.39 crore as on July 22, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 22, 2026, was ₹7,200.00 crore. Net durable liquidity was shown as a surplus of ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.
