My Tap My Pride Selfie-Video Competition Winners Announced

The winners of the “My Tap, My Pride” Selfie/Video Competition have been announced, according to an update published on the MyGov Blog. The competition was organised by the National Jal Jeevan Mission under the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, in collaboration with MyGov.

The contest was linked to the Jal Jeevan Mission and focused on household tap water connections. Citizens were asked to submit selfies or short videos showing tap water access at home and to share how the availability of tap water had affected daily life in their households.

MyGov served as the online platform for receiving the entries. The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, often referred to as DDWS, is the government department named in the announcement as the organising authority through the National Jal Jeevan Mission.

Competition received 411 entries

The competition opened on 15 August 2025 and remained available for entries until 31 March 2026. During this period, 411 submissions were received through the MyGov platform from citizens across the country.

The format of the competition was simple and visual. Instead of asking participants to submit long written reports, it invited them to document their household tap water connection through a selfie or a short video. The theme placed attention on lived experiences and the visible presence of tap water connections in homes.

How the entries were reviewed

After the competition closed, the entries went through a review and screening process. According to the announcement, the submissions were assessed for originality, relevance and overall quality.

A Selection Committee constituted under the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation evaluated the shortlisted entries. The committee then recommended winners in the prize categories listed in the announcement.

The announcement does not describe the competition as a public-voting exercise. It presents the awards as the result of screening, shortlisting and evaluation by the Selection Committee.

Prize categories announced

Based on the committee’s recommendations, the following awards have been announced:

  • First Prize: ₹20,000 for 1 winner
  • Second Prize: ₹15,000 for 1 winner
  • Third Prize: ₹10,000 for 1 winner
  • Consolation Prizes: ₹2,500 each for 10 winners
  • Lucky Draw Prizes: ₹1,000 each for 112 winners

Together, the listed categories cover 125 awardees: three main prize winners, 10 consolation prize winners and 112 lucky draw prize winners. Based on the amounts and counts stated in the announcement, the total prize value comes to ₹1,82,000.

The MyGov announcement also says that an awardee list has been made available with the winner announcement.

Focus on household tap water access

The competition was designed around the theme of household tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The submitted selfies and videos highlighted experiences from rural India and showed how participants viewed the availability of tap water in their homes.

The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation and MyGov congratulated the winners and thanked all participants who contributed entries. The announcement said the shared stories helped highlight progress in rural water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

For readers, the key point is that this was a citizen-participation competition connected to a public water supply programme. Its purpose was to collect and recognise visual stories from households where tap water access was presented as a matter of pride and daily convenience.
