India’s women’s cricket team has secured a place at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics after the International Cricket Council and the International Olympic Committee announced the qualification pathway for cricket’s return to the Games.
The women’s competition at LA 2028 will feature six teams. Four of those places have already gone to the highest-placed eligible teams from four regions, based on performances in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

However, the ICC and IOC pathway allows for a separate process if the West Indies men’s or women’s teams are among the eight highest-ranked non-qualified sides by December 31, 2026. In that case, a dedicated Caribbean qualifier will be held to decide which nation will enter the ICC Olympics Qualifier.
