The Reserve Bank of India’s money market and liquidity data released on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, showed total overnight money market volume of ₹6,04,620.57 crore. The weighted average rate for the overnight segment stood at 5.00 per cent, with deals reported in a range of 4.00 per cent to 5.40 per cent.
The figures were issued in RBI Press Release 2026-2027/867. The release listed amounts in ₹ crore and rates in per cent, based on data from the Reserve Bank of India and the Clearing Corporation of India Limited.
Overnight money market activity
In the overnight segment, triparty repo accounted for the largest share of reported volume at ₹4,12,484.75 crore. Its weighted average rate was 4.98 per cent, with the rate range at 4.71 per cent to 5.10 per cent.
Market repo volume was ₹1,70,364.40 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.04 per cent. The reported rate range for market repo was 4.00 per cent to 5.20 per cent.
Call money volume stood at ₹14,865.67 crore. The weighted average call money rate was 5.09 per cent, with rates moving between 4.00 per cent and 5.20 per cent.
Repo in corporate bonds recorded volume of ₹6,905.75 crore. Its weighted average rate was 5.29 per cent, with the rate range reported at 5.20 per cent to 5.40 per cent.
Term segment figures
In the term segment, notice money volume was ₹200.40 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.05 per cent and a range of 4.85 per cent to 5.15 per cent. Notice money covers uncollateralised transactions of 2 to 14 days tenor, according to the RBI note.
Term money volume was ₹1,333.00 crore. The release did not list a weighted average rate for this category, but the reported rate range was 5.65 per cent to 7.40 per cent. Term money refers to uncollateralised transactions of 15 days to one year tenor.
Triparty repo in the term segment stood at ₹4,285.70 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.01 per cent. Market repo volume was ₹738.92 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.24 per cent. No transaction was reported in repo in corporate bonds in the term segment.
RBI liquidity operations
The RBI reported two variable-rate operations dated Tuesday, August 11, 2026, both carrying a current or cut-off rate of 5.24 per cent. One operation of ₹39,141.00 crore had a one-day tenor and matured on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Another operation of ₹42,560.00 crore had a three-day tenor and was due to mature on Friday, August 14, 2026.
Under the Marginal Standing Facility, ₹560.00 crore was availed for one day at 5.50 per cent, maturing on August 12. Under the Standing Deposit Facility, ₹1,68,358.00 crore was reported for one day at 5.00 per cent, also maturing on August 12.
The release showed net liquidity injected from the day’s operations at minus ₹2,49,499.00 crore. RBI’s notation treats a positive number as injection and a negative number as absorption.
For outstanding operations, the RBI listed a seven-day variable-rate operation dated Monday, August 10, 2026, maturing on Monday, August 17, 2026. The amount was ₹95,810.00 crore at 5.24 per cent. Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was ₹10,594.66 crore.
Net liquidity from outstanding operations was reported at minus ₹85,215.34 crore. Including the day’s operations, the overall net liquidity figure was minus ₹3,34,714.34 crore. The RBI stated that net liquidity is calculated as repo plus MSF plus SLF minus reverse repo minus SDF.
Reserve position
Scheduled commercial banks’ cash balances with the RBI stood at ₹7,75,373.94 crore as on August 11, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending August 15, 2026, was ₹8,03,001.00 crore.
The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on August 11 was reported at zero. Net durable liquidity was listed as a surplus of ₹5,36,080.00 crore as on July 15, 2026.
