The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the Certificates of Registration of 59 companies, according to a press release published on August 11, 2026.
The action was taken under Section 45-IA(6) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. RBI said the listed companies shall not transact the business of a Non-Banking Financial Institution, as defined in clause (a) of Section 45-I of the Act.
The press release, numbered 2026-2027/861, was issued by Brij Raj, Chief General Manager.
Where the companies are registered
Most of the companies named in the release have registered offices in Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal. The list also includes companies registered in Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and New Delhi.
The cancellation order dates range from June 1, 2026 to July 28, 2026. Eighteen companies had cancellation orders dated June 1, while another large group had orders dated July 21.

Effect of the cancellation
RBI’s statement is limited to the cancellation of the Certificates of Registration and the resulting bar on carrying on Non-Banking Financial Institution business. The release does not give additional reasons for each company’s cancellation beyond citing the legal power used under the RBI Act.
