RBI Data Shows Net Liquidity Absorption of ₹93,980 Crore

The Reserve Bank of India released its latest money market, liquidity operation and reserve position data on Monday, July 27, 2026. The release, numbered 2026-2027/759, gives figures in ₹ crore and rates in per cent.

The daily statement recorded no transactions in the listed overnight and term money market segments. It also showed a net liquidity absorption of ₹93,980.34 crore when outstanding operations and the latest operations were taken together. In the RBI format, a positive number represents liquidity injection and a negative number represents absorption.

Money market volumes were listed at zero

According to the release, the overnight segment total was 0.00. The same 0.00 figure was shown separately for call money, triparty repo, market repo and repo in corporate bond. No weighted average rate or rate range was listed for these segments.

The term segment also showed 0.00 volume across the categories reported by the RBI. These included notice money, term money, triparty repo, market repo and repo in corporate bond. The release marked the relevant rate fields as not applicable or no transaction.

RBI operations and liquidity position

Under Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility operations, the RBI listed current operations dated Sunday, July 26, 2026, with maturity on Monday, July 27, 2026.

  • Marginal Standing Facility, or MSF, stood at ₹148.00 crore for one day at 5.50 per cent.
  • Standing Deposit Facility, or SDF, stood at ₹1,75,530.00 crore for one day at 5.00 per cent.
  • Net liquidity injected from these current operations was reported at minus ₹1,75,382.00 crore.

The release also listed outstanding operations maturing on July 27. A variable rate repo operation dated July 20, 2026, for a seven-day tenor, stood at ₹72,051.00 crore at 5.26 per cent. Outstanding MSF entries dated July 25 and July 24 were both shown at 0.00 crore, with the rate listed as 5.50 per cent.

For SDF, the outstanding amount dated July 25, 2026, was ₹120.00 crore at 5.00 per cent. Another SDF entry dated July 24, 2026, was ₹3,509.00 crore at 5.00 per cent. The Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was reported at ₹12,979.66 crore.

Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was ₹81,401.66 crore. After including the latest operations, the overall net liquidity figure was minus ₹93,980.34 crore.

Cash reserves and durable liquidity

The RBI also published reserve position figures. Cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI stood at ₹8,09,646.03 crore as on July 26, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, was ₹8,15,720.00 crore.

The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction was shown as 0.00 crore as on July 24, 2026. Net durable liquidity was reported as a surplus of ₹4,99,485.00 crore as on June 30, 2026.

The RBI noted that the figures are based on Reserve Bank of India and Clearing Corporation of India Limited data. It also stated that net liquidity is calculated as repo plus MSF plus SLF minus reverse repo minus SDF.
